BICEPS TENDINOPATHY

Biceps Tendinopathy
Overview
Biceps tendinopathy involves irritation or degeneration of the tendon that connects the biceps muscle to the shoulder.
It commonly develops due to repetitive overhead motion, poor shoulder mechanics, or coexisting rotator cuff or labral issues.
Signs & Symptoms
- Pain in the front of the shoulder or upper arm
- Discomfort with lifting, reaching, or rotating the arm
- Clicking or popping in the shoulder
- Tenderness over the bicipital groove
- Weakness or fatigue with overhead activity
Causes
- Repetitive overhead movements (throwing, swimming, lifting)
- Shoulder instability or impingement
- Poor posture or rounded shoulders
- Weak rotator cuff and scapular stabilizers
- Aging or degeneration of the tendon
How a Chiropractor Can Help
At Unify Rehab & Performance, we perform a thorough shoulder and upper-limb assessment to determine whether the biceps tendon irritation is primary or secondary to another issue (such as impingement).
Our treatment may include:
- Chiropractic mobilizations to restore shoulder and thoracic mobility.
- Soft tissue therapy targeting the biceps and surrounding structures.
- Acupuncture for pain relief and circulation improvement.
- Progressive rehab emphasizing rotator cuff and scapular stability exercises.
- Education on activity modification, posture, and load progression.
Our evidence-based approach restores shoulder strength and function, ensuring long-term recovery and performance.
