Labral Tear
Overview
A labral tear involves damage to the ring of cartilage (labrum) that surrounds the hip socket, helping stabilize and cushion the joint.
Labral tears can develop from trauma, repetitive impingement, or structural abnormalities. While they may cause deep groin pain or clicking, not all labral tears require surgery—many respond well to conservative, rehab-based care.
Signs & Symptoms
- Deep groin or hip joint pain
- Clicking, locking, or catching sensations
- Stiffness or loss of hip range of motion
- Pain during twisting or pivoting movements
- Discomfort after prolonged sitting or standing
Causes
- Hip impingement or bony irregularities
- Repetitive hip rotation or pivoting sports (hockey, soccer)
- Trauma or falls
- Weak hip stabilizers or poor pelvic control
- Previous hip injuries or tightness
How a Chiropractor Can Help
At Unify Rehab & Performance, we perform a detailed hip mobility and movement analysis to determine the mechanical and muscular factors affecting your labrum.
Treatment includes:
- Chiropractic mobilizations to restore optimal joint movement.
- Soft tissue therapy to reduce tension in surrounding muscles.
- Acupuncture for pain and inflammation control.
- Progressive rehab focusing on hip stability, glute strength, and control during rotation and load.
- Education on activity modifications and joint protection strategies.
Our focus is on restoring strength, control, and confidence in your movement—helping you manage pain and avoid surgery where possible.
