Plantar Fasciitis

Overview

Plantar fasciitis is inflammation or irritation of the plantar fascia—the thick band of tissue connecting the heel to the toes.
It’s a leading cause of heel pain, often developing gradually due to overuse, poor footwear, or reduced foot strength.

Signs & Symptoms

- Sharp heel pain, especially with the first steps in the morning
- Pain after prolonged standing or walking
- Stiffness or aching at the arch or heel
- Discomfort after activity rather than during
- Tenderness at the bottom of the heel

Causes

- Tight calf muscles or Achilles tendon
- Flat feet or high arches
- Poor footwear or walking on hard surfaces
- Increased weight-bearing activity without conditioning
- Weak foot intrinsic muscles

How a Chiropractor Can Help

At Unify Rehab & Performance, we perform a detailed foot and gait assessment to identify the mechanical stressors causing your heel pain.

Our treatment includes:

- Manual therapy and mobilizations for the foot and ankle joints.
- Soft tissue therapy for the plantar fascia and calf.
- Acupuncture for pain reduction and improved healing.
- Rehabilitation focusing on intrinsic foot strengthening, calf flexibility, and gradual loading.
- Education on footwear, activity modification, and stretching routines.

Our integrated approach helps relieve pain, restore foot strength, and prevent recurrence—so you can walk, train, and live comfortably again.
