Neck Pain
Overview
Neck pain is an extremely common condition that can arise from posture habits, stress, muscular tightness, or joint irritation in the cervical spine. It often affects people who spend long hours on computers or phones and can also develop after poor sleep or repetitive strain.
Although most neck pain isn’t serious, chronic or recurring pain can interfere with daily life and signal deeper mobility or stability issues.
Signs & Symptoms
- Dull ache, stiffness, or sharp pain in the neck
- Pain radiating to the shoulders, upper back, or arms
- Headaches originating from the neck (cervicogenic headaches)
- Limited range of motion when turning or tilting the head
- Muscle tightness or spasms
- Tingling, numbness, or weakness in the arms (if nerve involvement)
Causes
- Forward head posture or poor ergonomics (“tech neck”)
- Muscle imbalance between deep neck flexors and upper traps/levator scapulae
- Joint restriction or cervical disc degeneration
- Stress and tension leading to muscular tightness
- Whiplash or previous injury
