Nerve Entrapments / Radiculopathy

Overview

Nerve entrapment or radiculopathy occurs when a nerve is compressed or irritated along its pathway—either in the spine or peripheral areas such as the shoulder, elbow, or wrist.
This can lead to pain, tingling, numbness, or weakness that radiates along the nerve’s distribution. Common examples include cervical or lumbar radiculopathy, carpal tunnel syndrome, and ulnar nerve entrapment.

Signs & Symptoms

- Shooting, burning, or radiating pain
- Numbness or tingling in arms, hands, legs, or feet
- Muscle weakness or loss of coordination
- Pain that follows a specific nerve path
- Worsening symptoms with certain movements or postures

Causes

- Disc herniation or spinal joint restriction
- Muscle tightness or fascial compression along a nerve pathway
- Poor posture or repetitive strain
- Inflammation or scar tissue from previous injury
- Structural narrowing (spinal stenosis or entrapment sites)

How a Chiropractor Can Help

At Unify Rehab & Performance, we begin with a detailed neurological and movement assessment to determine where the nerve is being compressed and what’s contributing to irritation.

Our treatment includes:

- Chiropractic adjustments and mobilizations to improve spinal and joint mobility.
- Soft tissue therapy and nerve-gliding techniques to relieve compression.
- Acupuncture to modulate pain and enhance nerve recovery.
- Rehabilitation focusing on mobility, posture, and muscular stability.
- Education on ergonomics, sleeping positions, and activity modifications.

Our goal is to not only relieve nerve irritation but restore full function and prevent recurrence through improved movement patterns and strength.
